What is Microblading?

3D microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique in which cosmetic-grade pigment is hand-applied into the upper dermis in fine strokes that mimic real eyebrow hairs. Because the pigment sits shallower than a traditional tattoo, your brows gradually soften and fade over 1–2 years rather than staying permanent. The pigment itself is FDA-regulated for cosmetic use and far gentler than tattoo ink.

For Wilbraham clients, microblading is most often used to fill in sparse spots, even out asymmetry, or simply reclaim the 30 minutes a day spent penciling brows in. Lana custom-maps shape and color to your face in person — nothing is templated — so the result blends seamlessly with your existing brow hair.

Before Treatment

Every Wilbraham client begins with an in-person consultation. Lana evaluates skin type, current brow shape, hair color, and facial structure, and works with you on the shape you want. The shape is drawn on by hand first, so you can adjust before any pigment is applied.

Once shape is approved, Lana helps you pick a personalized color matched to your complexion and natural hair. That custom formula is recorded for future touch-ups, so your color stays consistent year over year. All pigments used are cosmetic-grade and regulated by FDA guidelines.

During Treatment

At your appointment, Lana first confirms your brow shape, then sterilizes the area and applies a topical numbing cream. The numbing cream takes roughly 20 minutes to take effect and is reapplied as needed for comfort.

Using a precision tool, Lana etches individual hair strokes into the upper dermis one at a time and deposits pigment along those strokes. This is deliberate, slow work — that's what makes the finished brows look like real hair. After the strokes are placed, pigment settles for 15–20 minutes before the appointment wraps up. Plan on about two hours start to finish.

Brows often look darker for several days, then lighten as they heal. Healing takes about two weeks, with some light peeling and tenderness along the way — all normal. Following aftercare closely is what protects the saturation of your healed result.

After Treatment

You'll go home with an aftercare cream and clear instructions. Apply it gently with a Q-tip or cotton round; don't rub or pick.

Plan to avoid saunas, heavy sweating, brow makeup, and direct sun for the first week, and skip facials and swimming for the full two-week heal. Following this carefully is the single biggest factor in how crisp your healed brows look 6 and 12 months from now.

Follow-Up Treatment

Every initial microblading appointment is paired with a complimentary follow-up 4–6 weeks later, so Lana can refine the healed shape, deepen color where needed, and fill any soft spots. This is the visit that locks in your final result.

After that, most Wilbraham clients return roughly once a year for a maintenance retouch — though skin type, sun exposure, and lifestyle all play a part in how long your brows hold their saturation.
